I wanted to create a gladiatorial mood, an almost superhero quality to the figure.  Within the AFL world there are few that have reached the heights of on field success and attained the level of respect that he has, from the entire AFL community.

He is not a 200cm giant nor does he run like the wind, but he’s one of the toughest, truest footballers you will ever see. To the fans… he is a giant, a superhero, a loyal Hawk warrior who has lead this club through one of the greatest eras in it’s illustrious history.

I wanted to capture the intensity of that famous “game face” that I think sums him up. No matter what he has to go through, whether it be backing into another pack, playing with injury, putting his head in harms way, time and time again… he will not alter his focus from the job at hand.
