THE PAINTING STORY
Scott chose the moment himself, as he feels it is an example of what defines him as a Collingwood player and leader. 8 minutes to go in the last quarter of the 2023 Grand Final, with the game on the line, Pendles intercepts a ball on the edge of the defensive side of the centre square. Everyone expects him to take it wide to the wing for safety, but instead, cool and calm in the eye of the storm, he wrong foots Zac Bailey and heads straight back into the corridor, the danger zone, where he finds an unsuspecting Jack Ginnivan who is clear and can head straight down the middle towards goal.
FROM THE ARTIST
That’s why I titled this print – Time and Space. Scott has found both in spades for his entire career, making great decisions in the chaos, speed and pressure of an AFL game. And can there be any more crucial a moment than in the last quarter of a Grand Final!!.
The blur all around him has no effect on his steely focus in making the right decision. A once in generation player and a true champion of the game. Congrats. Pendles!
